Nudge nudge!
A date at The Elbow Room
03.02.2012
Bear with us on the soppy front but we’ve got to set the scene. Yesterday was our anniversary and we wanted to go out and celebrate. We decided to treat ourselves for the occasion and so headed off to a restaurant called The Elbow Room and boy did we make a good choice, good enough, in fact, to dedicate an entire blog post to it!
After getting there we settled into the amazing ambiance which couldn’t even be ruined by the drunken old lady bursting into profanities at another couple halfway through their coffee and dessert. The friendly staff managed to coax her out and we returned to our plates. The food (which I guess you kind of have to talk about it being a restaurant and all) was amazing. Rach had the duck risotto and not to sound too like a gourmet food critic but it was a beautiful dish bursting with flavour. Alex had kangaroo steak which in his words was like the angels of heaven partying on his tongue. All in all everything was perfect – right down to our drinks with an excellently made cocktail and a beautiful wine. But best of all it wasn’t too bad in terms of price (disclaimer; relatively compared to other restaurants and no not Maccas, we mean actual restaurants). We’ve already decided we’re headed back there for our last meal in Melbourne and we’re counting down the days!
Rex's Rules of the Road
- If you’re looking to treat yourselves head to The Elbow Room for some nouveau Australian cuisine (posh Aussie nosh). It was around $60 for the two of us but well worth it and one of the best meals we’ve ever had!
